Exhaust
Inspection and repair of the muffler, pipes, hangers and catalytic converter.
Service description
The exhaust system carries engine gases to the back of the vehicle, muffles engine noise and reduces pollution through the catalytic converter. It also includes several sensors and mounting hangers.
Why does it matter?
The exhaust system works like your car’s chimney: it makes sure toxic gases are safely carried away from the cabin. It also greatly reduces engine noise and limits the environmental impact. Keeping it leak-free is a matter of health, safety and respect for the environment.

When to plan this service?
| Item | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Inspection | We usually recommend an inspection every 20,000 km or once a year, while the vehicle is on the lift. |
| Hangers and mounts | Checked yearly and usually replaced as soon as they crack, so a heavier section of the exhaust does not fall. |
| Catalytic converter | Depending on how the vehicle is used, it often lasts 120,000 to 150,000 km on average. |

FAQ
Is it dangerous to drive with a leaking exhaust?
Yes, it can be dangerous. A leak near the engine or under the cabin can let carbon monoxide into the car.
Why do exhaust failures seem more frequent in winter?
The exhaust system gets very hot when in use. The contrast with salty slush greatly speeds up metal corrosion.
